Got a Passion for Network Engineering?
Pravala builds mobile networking software that allows devices to use multiple Internet connections simultaneously and to transfer data sessions between active connections. Our software has applications on smartphones, where we allow VoIP calls (and other data) to seamlessly transfer between Wi-Fi and 3G, and on edge routers, where our system automatically transfers traffic to a backup connection without interrupting active flows if the primary link fails. We couple this technology with a web-based monitoring and policy system that allows our carrier and enterprise customers to remotely manage the devices attached to their networks.

Pravala has an incredible team of developers and business people, and has a history of accomplishing far more than our small size would suggest. We’re big on making decisions as a team, from the problems we tackle and what funding we accept all the way to where we go for ‘Don’t Bring A Lunch’ Thursdays. Pravala firmly believes that our people can do amazing things if given the right tools, so everyone gets a development machine customized to their needs, a smartphone for developing and dogfooding, your choice of a sitting or standing desk, and complete access to our fully-stocked fridge.
Improving as a team is a big part of who we are. Every line of code we check in is reviewed by another member of the team, providing a great learning opportunity for everyone (you might do a code review on your first day) and giving us the confidence to know we’ve built the right thing. You’ll be given the authority to try things out and experiment when developing – we want to ship the best product, period. We also encourage our developers to get involved with the business, from writing parts of our product roadmap to managing a customer account.
Our technology stack currently includes C/C++ (on Linux and Android), Java (GWT and Android), Bash, and a bit of Javascript (with node.js).
We’re located in a brand-new building in Kitchener, Ontario, right off of Highway 85. Every member of our team receives stock options, so that we all win together – and a great salary in the meantime. A full benefits package is also provided.
What We’re Looking For: UI Developer/Designer
UI Developers at Pravala work on complementary products to our core networking library, and are responsible for designing and developing features in Java using GWT and the Android SDK. Our core networking product allows users to seamlessly transfer sessions between multiple networks, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, WiMax, and Satellite; you’ll be building our on-device UI as well as our central management console that allows network administrators to monitor and manage active devices.
About You
- You are comfortable programming full-stack applications, and have been coding – professionally or personally – for years
- You have a good knowledge of user interfaces, databases, and web development, preferably in Java
- You want to bring change to an area that hasn’t experienced the UX revolution, making the lives of network administrators just a little bit easier
- You have a good knowledge of networking, or you are excited at the prospect of gaining a first-hand knowledge of exactly how the Internet works
- You want to work in a small, fast-moving team with lots of responsibility (and few roadblocks to getting things done)
What We’re Looking For: Systems Developer
Systems Developers at Pravala work on our core networking product, and are responsible for designing and developing features in C++. Our core networking product allows users to seamlessly transfer sessions between multiple networks, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, WiMax, and Satellite.
About You
- You are comfortable programming systems-level software in C++, and have been coding – professionally or personally – for years
- You have a good knowledge of networking, or you are excited at the prospect of gaining a first-hand knowledge of exactly how the Internet works
- You are eager to build products that do their work behind the scenes, providing reliable connectivity and key infrastructure for future networks
- You want to work in a small, fast-moving team with lots of responsibility (and few roadblocks to getting things done)
